Wong Chen, the new GE13 Parliamentary candidate is quickly gaining a reputation of being the “man with the round glasses”. In spite of being fairly new to the world of politics, he is now recognized by everybody because of his signature round glasses. His popularity has increased so much that he is being touted as the Malaysian version of Harry potter and John Lennon, two personalities who were known throughout the world because of their famous round frame glasses. The man in question, Wong Chen, though insists that he is neither Harry Potter nor John Lennon and that he just loves wearing vintage glasses. He has been using the popularity of his retro style to his advantage and has been carrying several bigger versions of the same.
Initially, he started bringing these plastic fun glasses with him so that his admirers can wear them and click pictures with him. He didn’t think he would find so many takers for these glasses and was surprised by the hearty reaction of the people all around. It is sure a new way of mingling with your admirers and we think that a lot of politicians, whether old or new, need to learn something like this for increasing their popularity!
